Preserve Cary’s Standing as a Public Safety Leader
Cary is one of the safest places to live and that’s from our dedication to prioritizing public safety. One of the biggest accomplishments in public safety history in Cary and McHenry County was the opening of the McHenry County Regional Training Center. I led the effort with neighboring municipalities, county and state government officials to bring a state-of-the-art police training facility to Cary and house it in our old village hall.
The training center was designed for tactical trainings, including school settings and car drills, and provides local and area law enforcement the resources to work together right in our backyard. The training center in Cary also means our police officers don’t have to travel for trainings, saving taxpayer money, and has created the opportunity for other law enforcement agencies around the state to utilize our facility which will generate additional revenue.
I have collaborated closely with the McHenry County Sheriff to find ways we can reduce costs while enhancing our public safety. We will turn our old police department into a substation for the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and offices for social workers. And we’ve partnered with other agencies to consolidate services. I led the effort for a Shared Services Coordinator and now other counties, and even the State of Illinois, are interested in this approach to lower costs. We also took the same approach by starting a county-wide social worker program that provides better access, support, and services to those in need.
Prospective families, residents, and business want to come to a safe community. Vote for me so I can maintain Cary’s standing as a regional leader in public safety.
