Progress that Benefits Every Neighbor

Cary has made significant strides year over year since Mark Kownick took office in 2013. Families want to move here for the high quality of life. Businesses want to be part of our growing and thriving downtown. And other municipalities want to partner with us because they know Mayor Kownick will help them deliver results.

Cary has retained its small-town charm while transforming into a dynamic, welcoming community for families, businesses, and visitors. Over the last 12 years, 167 new businesses have opened, bringing jobs and diverse dining, shopping, and service options, leading to downtown Cary flourishing and becoming a gathering place with vibrant restaurants, branded benches, and the first downtown open-container bar. Residents from other communities are coming to Cary to experience the atmosphere we’ve created in our downtown and our other shopping centers are thriving as well.

Residents are benefiting directly from this strategic economic development, like the redeveloping of a vacant manufacturing plant into a workforce housing development which helps fund essential services while keeping taxes low for our residents. Our plan of turning the old train station into Gliniecki Family Community Plaza will create even more family-friendly spaces with music, food trucks, and community events including encouraging our youth to perform at the new pavilion to enhance what we can provide our families and residents.

Smart financial planning has allowed Cary to thrive without raising taxes. Over $15 million in state and federal grants have funded vital projects, including the development of Route 31 infrastructure, opening doors to future restaurants and housing opportunities, and the new Metro Station. We also built a state-of-the-art new municipal center which was completed under budget, ahead of schedule, and without a tax increase.

Cary’s steadily declining tax rate means more money stays in residents’ pockets, while matching grants help maintain high-quality roads and sidewalks, ensuring safer and more pleasant neighborhoods. Mayor Kownick’s focus on keeping Cary vibrant during the pandemic saved local businesses and jobs, ensuring families had the support they needed. The return of events like the Cary Main Street Fest, which is expanding to 3 days to include the Farmer’s Market, and investments in public spaces foster a connected, thriving community.

Cary has also been a regional leader in improving public safety and keeping our communities safe. Mayor Kownick worked with neighboring municipalities, and county and state governments to bring a state-of-the-art police training facility to Cary. Police officers are now able to train and have better resources right here in Cary, which has significantly saved on costs while generating interest from other municipalities to have their law enforcement train out of our facility.

Mayor Kownick has delivered real, tangible results—safer neighborhoods, a vibrant downtown, and expanded economic opportunities. Vote for Mark Kownick for Mayor of Cary so he can keep Cary on a path of progress that benefits every resident.
